  From my experience at Bits-N-Bytes, I would guess that the knowledge of the technician at the store extended to the 20 or so most common computer issues, and the first 3 questions any tech support counter would ask a call-in. To the credit of most computer issues, that will solve a LOT of problems, but none of those problems are worth taking your computer into a store to get fixed. I took my laptop in because the power button was in some unknown way broken. While the laptop still showed a charge when I plugged it in, the power button was not causing the computer to boot up. 80% of the diagnostic that Bits-N-Bytes performed consisted of rapidly pressing the power button. After a few minutes, the technician told me that my motherboard was fried and I would have to buy a new laptop. He proceeded to ask how much money I had, because he was selling several refurbished laptops, as well as what was available at the affixed pawn shop. In fact, the laptop's motherboard was NOT fried, and I'm typing this review on the very machine. I later discovered that it was a relatively easy hardware fix, that most reputable stores would have been able to detect and easily repair.
